For a child is born to us, a son is given to us. The government will rest on his shoulders. And he will be called: Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Isaiah 9:6 NLT
Time with WEC
We thank God for these months of training, for His provision and for the new friendships we formed. As part of the requirements to become members of the WEC agency, we participated for three months in the “Candidate Orientation” course. With joy we tell you that we are now part of this missionary agency, which also supports and accompanies us. We praise the Lord for this.
God is our Wonderful Counselor and His working is amazing in our eyes, for while we were taking this training, we learned that WEC had in mind the same ethnic group that we will serve: the Nomatsiguenga. Our eternal Father loves these people and we see that he unites us to serve them and announce the Good News to them.
Karina’s Birthday
In the month of October, Karina turned two years old, thanks to the Lord. We are very grateful for the health he gives her and for the beautiful skills she is developing at her young age. Living this stage as parents is a great joy, and we ask you to accompany us in prayer for wisdom for her upbringing.
Serving among deaf people
In November we were asked to do a missionary internship as part of our Orientation. We were in Amealco, Querétaro, at the Centro de Ayuda al Sordo, where we trained three deaf people in the use of Bloom, a program that allows them to create digital books in their language, an often limited resource.
We trust that this will motivate you to share your faith and the work of Jesus Christ in your lives with other members of the Deaf community. May our Mighty God work in your lives.
You can see some of the books created in this link.
Upcoming plans
In mid-January we will return to Peru. We will stay a few days in Lima while we send our things to Chuquibambilla. Chuquibambilla is located in the central jungle of Peru and in this indigenous community the Nomatsiguenga language is spoken. God willing, we would be serving among this ethnic group for the next few years.
In Chuquibambilla is the Antioquia Missionary Base, where a team of missionaries is already working. It is a blessing to be accepted and received by this team. Our desire and next project is to establish a small house to live there in the Base.
Currently there is a commitment to help in the repairs of a health center in the community, this project is progressing but still needs to complete important details such as the roof and doors for its full operation. Once this health center is completed, we will be able to fully focus on the construction of our housing. In the meantime, we are grateful for the hospitality of the Base in allowing us to stay in the dormitories where they receive short-term teams. We trust that the Prince of Peace will sustain us in this process and provide us with what we need for the challenges ahead.
“For a child is born to us, a son is given to us. The government will rest on his shoulders…”
We wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year 2025 with the blessing of our good Lord.
Prayer requests
We appreciate your prayers for the following reasons:
- For health, patience and a good process of adaptation to this new place.
- For grace to be able to relate with the Nomatsiguengas.
- For resources for the Antioquia Missionary Base, so that they can finish the health center.
- For resources for the construction of our house in Chuquibambilla.
